New Delhi: A groundbreaking development is on the horizon as India’s inaugural Regional Train Service Rapid Transit System (RRTS) is on the cusp of becoming a reality. With the advent of the Rapid X train, the nation is poised to witness an unparalleled stride in its transportation infrastructure. This revolutionary rail system, poised to be the swiftest regional train in the country, is currently under construction, linking Delhi to Meerut.

The commencement of the Rapid X’s trial run is already in progress. Set to redefine the parameters of speed and efficiency, the Rapid X train is projected to traverse a remarkable 17-kilometre distance, spanning from Sahibabad to Duhai depot, in just 12 minutes. Notably, during testing, the Vegaveeran, a Rapid X train, locomotive achieved a speed of 160 kilometres per hour along this stretch. With a maximum operational speed of up to 180 kilometres per hour, the Rapid X is slated to revolutionise the regional travel experience.

The Rapid X high-speed rail project is on track for completion by 2025, a timeline that underscores the commitment to delivering a seamless commuting experience to the public. The Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut route, spanning an impressive 82 kilometres, is poised to offer commuters a swift and efficient mode of transportation, effectively bridging geographical gaps. The journey between Delhi and Meerut, once a time-consuming endeavour, will be streamlined into a mere one-hour commute, ushering in a new era of connectivity.
