Blind shopkeeper attacked with soda bottle for not providing matchbox  

Thiruvananthapuram: A 40-year-old man named M. Shiju, a resident of Nedumangad, was arrested for assaulting a visually impaired shopkeeper. The victim, Binukumar, who runs a shop at Vattarathala junction in Aanad, was reportedly attacked after he informed Shiju that there were no matchboxes available when requested. Shiju assaulted Binukumar by striking him on the chest and head with a soda bottle.

Following this, the assailant fled the scene but was later arrested through the efforts of Nedumangad’s Station House Officer (SHO), Sreekumaran Nair. The accused was presented before the court and subsequently remanded.
