Ernakulam: A disturbing incident has gripped the community in Ernakulam as a dispute over bike parking culminated in a tragic outcome, with one brother of a family of three losing his life. The incident unfolded late last night, at around 11 p.m., when an airgun was used in the dispute, resulting in the death of the elder brother Paulson Thomas.
Locals in the area have shared their concern over the incident, revealing that both brothers involved in the dispute were known to have mental health issues. The dispute occurred within the confines of their home, where, at the time of the incident, only the father and his two sons were present. The weapon used in the incident, an airgun, reportedly belonged to the father, Joseph.
According to locals, there was minimal interaction and cooperation between the family and their neighbours.
The roots of the tragic incident trace back to a disagreement over bike parking. Paulson Thomas had reported that his bike was damaged earlier in the day due to a dispute over parking. He took the matter to the police, filing a complaint against the damage.
The situation escalated when, later in the evening, a heated argument ensued between the two brothers, Paulson and Thomas. In the heat of the moment, Thomas allegedly used the airgun, resulting in the fatal shooting of his older brother, Paulson.
Law enforcement swiftly responded to the scene, taking Thomas into custody after the incident.
