Kochi: While courts are often referred to as the temples of justice, the High Court has emphasized that complainants and advocates need not fold their hands in reverence inside the courtroom. Justice P.V. Kunjikrishnan stated that it is sufficient to maintain decorum within the courtroom.
The High Court made this observation while considering a case where the proceedings against an Alappuzha resident were canceled. The Court’s observation highlighted the petitioner’s approach to the case, which was marked by teary eyes and folded hands.
The judges of the court are fulfilling their constitutional duties, and complainants and lawyers are not required to show such reverence. The High Court reminded that litigating cases is a right guaranteed by the Constitution.
