Kollam: All the accused, arrested in connection with the attack on RSS workers, are in custody. The incident in question occurred last Sunday evening. The arrested individuals, identified as Noufal and Ajmal, hailing from Kadathur, Thazhava in Karunagappalli, along with Yasim, a resident of Kulasekharapuram, have been taken into custody. Notably, one of them has a history of involvement in multiple criminal cases.

The altercation began when the accused engaged in a heated argument with an RSS worker named Akshay, who had arrived in Puthiyakavu after the padasanchalanam. Subsequently, Akshay Kumar and his friend, who were accompanied by friends, were intercepted and physically assaulted by the accused. Following the incident, the accused managed to evade the police. It was challenging to identify the culprits due to their two-wheeler lacking a number plate and their mobile phones being switched off. Also, CCTV footage wasn’t available to aid the investigation.

Concerned that the accused might attempt to escape to other states, authorities increased surveillance at railway stations and bus stands. Ultimately, the suspects were apprehended in Kayamkulam. The Assistant Commissioner of Police for Karunagappally has stated that an investigation is underway to determine whether a conspiracy was involved in the attack.
