Elon Musk’s X, formerly known as Twitter, has introduced video and audio calling features for its users. Currently, these features are accessible exclusively to X Premium (Twitter Blue) users on iOS, with plans to expand their availability to Android users in the near future.
For users who enjoy X for free, the good news is that they can receive calls. Users can control who can call them by adjusting their Direct Messaging settings. By default, calls can be received from individuals you follow or have in your address book. However, there’s a condition: for a call to be made, both parties must have exchanged direct messages at least once.

Elon Musk had previously hinted at X’s plans to introduce voice and video calls back in August. This development aligns with the transformation of the former Twitter platform into a multi-purpose app. These new features will be compatible with iPhones, Android phones, Mac computers, and regular PCs, eliminating the need for a phone number to utilise them.
