Kozhikode: Kozhikode Medical College police registered a case for hate speech against Congress leader Shama Mohamed. She is also charged for spreading the hate speech over social media platforms.

Shama Mohamed had said that if Narendra Modi comes back to power then there would be no mosques and churches. She then spread the video of her hate speech through Facebook and X. She made the hate speech during an election campaign for Lok Sabha candidate in Kozhikode, MK Raghavan.

The complaint against her says that Shama Mohamed made a hate speech and spread it through social media to incite violence among communities. The police registered a case under IPC Section 153 and the 125th section of the Representation of the People Act, 1951.

Shama Mohamed, in her speech, said that only if UDF candidates win can the Congress come back to power at the center. She warned that if BJP crosses the 400 mark they will change the constitution. She also reminded the listeners of the Gyanvapi issue. As Shama Mohamed was speaking in a Muslim dominated area, her speech is widely seen as a bid at polarization.

Shama Mohamed is the national spokesperson of Congress party.
