Flash strike by private buses in Kozhikode, Kannur and Thrissur

Kozhikode: Kozhikode witnessed a flash strike by private buses. Bus routes including Kozhikode-Kannur, Kozhikode-Thrissur, and Kozhikode-Thotilpalam are on strike. The bus services departing from Thalassery and Vadakara busstands have come to a complete halt.

This strike is a response to the recent filing of a case, including charges under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, against bus staff following a complaint lodged by students. The case was registered by the Chokli police based on a school student’s complaint against an employee of a bus operating on the Thalassery-Thottilpalam route. The case was officially registered on October 28, and the accused was subsequently arrested on the last Sunday.

The unexpected strike has troubled numerous passengers who rely on these buses to access the interior areas of Thalassery and Vadakara. Bus workers argue that the police took action without conducting a thorough investigation.
