Rome: External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on Friday met with Italian President Sergio Mattarella to discuss the further strengthening of the strategic partnership between Bharat and Italy. EAM Jaishankar emphasized that the Bharat-Italy relationship serves as a stabilizing factor in a volatile and uncertain world.

“Valued his (Mattarella) guidance for the further development of our strategic partnership. In a volatile and uncertain world, the India-Italy relationship is a factor of stability,” Jaishankar shared on social media.

Earlier in the day, Jaishankar held a meeting with Italian Minister of Enterprise, Adolfo Urso, where they exchanged experiences and insights related to the ‘Made in Italy’ and ‘Made in India’ initiatives. The two leaders discussed ways to deepen the strategic partnership and foster stronger collaboration, marking a positive step toward increased economic ties.

Furthermore, EAM Jaishankar held a meeting with Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani on Thursday, during which they signed the Mobility and Migration Partnership Agreement and the Cultural Exchange Programme. Their discussions encompassed deepening the strategic partnership between the two countries, as well as addressing issues related to the situation in West Asia, the conflict in Ukraine, and the Indo-Pacific.

Additionally, Jaishankar interacted with members of the Italian Senate as part of his official visit to Italy, which began on Wednesday.

Italy is one of Bharat’s top 5 trading partners within the European Union, with trade balances favoring Bharat since the early 1980s. Italy hosts the second-largest Indian community in Europe, following the United Kingdom.
