Thiruvananthapuram: The India Meteorological Department has reported that low pressure over North Tripura is weakening, signalling a relief for the region. The Meteorological Department predicts that the low pressure is likely to weaken further within the next six hours. Simultaneously, a cyclone looms over the south-west Bay of Bengal and Sri Lanka, with another cyclonic circulation identified in the south-east Bay of Bengal and Andaman Sea.
With this influence, the state is anticipated to experience rainfall with thunder and lightning over the next five days. The Meteorological Department has issued a warning for the possibility of heavy rain at isolated locations from today until November 20. A yellow alert has been announced for six districts today, including Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, and Idukki.
Further caution is advised, as a yellow alert remains in effect for Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam, and Idukki districts tomorrow. On the 20th, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, and Idukki districts will also be under a yellow alert, with predictions of heavy rain at isolated areas.
The India Meteorological Department forecasts the possibility of rain with thunder and lightning at isolated places in the state and strong winds ranging from 30 to 40 km per hour from today until the 22nd.
