Thiruvananthapuram: The weather department has issued a yellow alert today in 12 districts, excluding Idukki and Wayanad. The India Meteorological Department has warned of a temperature hike that will persist until April 13, with certain districts expected to experience a temperature hike of up to 41 degrees Celsius.
Palakkad district is expected to bear the brunt of the heat, with temperature potentially soaring to 41 degrees Celsius. Similarly, Kollam district may experience a maximum of 40 degrees Celsius, while Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Thrissur, Kozhikode, and Kannur districts are likely to see temperatures reaching 38 degrees Celsius.
Meanwhile, the black sea phenomenon is anticipated to bring high waves and rough seas along the Kerala and South Tamil Nadu coasts until 11:30 pm , prompting caution among coastal communities.
Furthermore, intermittent rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning has been forecast across the state until Saturday. The India Meteorological Department has also cautioned about the possibility of strong winds with speeds of up to 40 kilometres per hour.
