THRISSUR: A Policeman was found dead by suicide today morning. The deceased was Aadish (40), a native of Perumbillissery in Thrissur district and a Civil Police Officer (CPO) at AR camp..
A team from the Cherpu Police Station initiated the necessary procedures.
Reports indicate that Aadish had been declared a ‘deserter’ by the police force as he was continuously absent for duty since October 2022. He was working as a driver in the Thrissur City Control Room but had been absent from duty without explanation.
In official terms, a person who absents themselves from official duties without notification is considered a deserter.
Amidst rising suicide rates within the Kerala Police department, several policemen have voiced concerns that the Home Ministry has not taken adequate steps to alleviate the mounting pressure on duty-bound police personnel in the state.
