Ernakulam: Mariyakutty, the 78-year-old Idukki native, who made headlines by protesting against the government for non-disbursement of her widow pension, says that she expects justice from the court.

Mariyakutty said, yesterday, that she does not want any help for herself alone and said everyone should receive the pension. She added that she expects the court’s intervention to ensure for justice for all.

Mariyakutty said, “There are many people who are suffering more than me and the government has insulted me today in the court.”

While considering Mariyakutty’s petition, the High Court strongly criticized the government. The High Court stated that the state government should not ruin people’s lives and considered the government’s claim that Mariyakutty has money as unfortunate. The petition was heard by Justice Devan Ramachandran.

The court inquired how Mariyakutty would sustain herself if she did not receive the pension. Additionally, the High Court emphasized that the government should provide a response regarding when the pension amount can be disbursed.
