Thiruvananthapuram: A tragic incident unfolded in Thiruvallam, Thiruvananthapuram, as a young woman, Shahana Shaji, reportedly took her own life due to mental torture inflicted by her mother-in-law. The incident occurred around 4 pm on Tuesday. The Thiruvallam police have registered a case in connection with the incident.
Shahana, a resident of Vandithadam, had been enduring harassment in her husband’s house, leading her to stay in her own house for the past three months. According to reports, Shahana’s husband, Naufal, had insisted she attend a private ceremony at his house on the day of the incident. However, unwilling to participate, Shahana refused. In response, her husband forcibly took their one-and-a-half-year-old child from her home.
Devastated by this turn of events, Shahana retreated to a room, closing the door behind her. Tragically, she was found dead during subsequent examinations. Relatives suggest that the shock of having her child taken away was a significant factor in her decision to take her own life. The family has released footage showcasing the brutal treatment Shahana endured in her husband’s house.
