Ernakulam: The Special Court in Ernakulam has pronounced a life imprisonment sentence along with a fine of Rs 1 lakh for Father Sanu Mohan in the case of the murder of 10-year-old girl Vaiga. Charges under the Juvenile Justice Act, including providing intoxicants to the child with the intent to harm her and abduction, were leveled against the accused. He was previously found guilty on all charges.
The court’s verdict includes a life sentence for the murder and an additional 28 years for other offenses. The case revolves around the incident on March 21, 2021, when the lifeless body of Vaiga was discovered in the Muttar River. The investigation revealed that the child’s father, Sanu Mohan, confessed to strangling his daughter in their flat before disposing of her body in the river.
