Mumbai: At its convened meeting today, the Board of Directors of Reliance Industries Limited have acknowledged and accepted the resignation of Nita Ambani from her board position. This decision was favourably welcomed since it respected her wish to devote her time and energy to guiding and empowering the Reliance Foundation for greater societal impact in India.
Simultaneously, the Board also put forth a recommendation to the shareholders, seeking their approval for the appointment of Isha Ambani, Akash Ambani, and Anant Ambani as non-executive directors of the company.
The Board praised Nita Ambani’s leadership as the Founder Chairperson of Reliance Foundation, highlighting the organisation’s considerable strides in nurturing and empowering marginalised communities in India. Commending her vision, the Board supported Nita Ambani’s desire to fortify Reliance Foundation’s initiatives, which aspire to drive profound societal transformation through new programs and initiatives.
In her capacity as Chairperson of Reliance Foundation, Nita Ambani will retain a standing invitation to attend all RIL Board meetings, ensuring that the company continues to benefit from her guidance. The recommendation for the fresh appointments to the board was proposed by the Human Resources, Nomination, and Remuneration Committee.
Pending shareholder approval, the appointments of Isha Ambani, Akash Ambani, and Anant Ambani will become effective upon assuming office. The trio has demonstrated significant involvement and leadership in key RIL businesses such as retail, digital services, energy, and materials, in addition to their service on the boards of RIL’s major subsidiaries. Their addition to the RIL Board is poised to infuse new ideas and perspectives.
