Srinagar: In the encounter that took place in Rambhag area of Srinagar that killed two terrorists, one among them was the top Lashkar-e-Taiba commander Saiffulah.
According to security forces, Saifullah was the mastermind in the Nowgam attack in which 2 CRPF personnel were martyred.
Speaking to reporters in Srinagar, Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh said Saif-ul-lah was a Pakistani terrorist who was involved in three major terror attacks on the security forces in the past.
“He was involved in an attack on a CRPF party in Budgam in which CRPF Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) was martyred. In a second attack at Kandizal, two CRPF men were killed and three others were injured and a third attack at Kandizal carried out on a convoy was repulsed,” he said.
“Today’s operation was a successful one. He said that this year eight encounters took place in the city in which 18 militants including a top Hizbul Mujahideen commander were killed. Whenever any terrorists outfit tries to establish its base in Srinagar, we successfully corner the terrorists with the help of our intelligence and other sources,” he added.
