Bhubaneswar: India achieved a significant milestone with the successful flight-testing of Agni Prime, the latest addition to the Agni ballistic missile series. The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) conducted the pre-induction night test on June 7, 2023, from Dr. Abdul Kalam Island, situated off the coast of Odisha.
According to an official statement, the flight test accomplished all its objectives with success. This marked the first pre-induction night launch conducted by the users, following three successful developmental trials of the missile. These trials have substantiated the accuracy and reliability of the system.
The triumphant flight test was witnessed by senior officials from DRDO and the Strategic Forces Command. It serves as a crucial step towards the integration of Agni Prime into the armed forces. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh extended his congratulations to DRDO and the Armed Forces for the achievement, commending the flawless performance of the new generation ballistic missile Agni Prime.
