Kavaratti: The ‘Run for Unity’ was conducted by Indian Coast Guard Station Kavaratti from 0730 -0830 hrs on 31 Oct 23. DIG Vikas Walia, Commander, Coast Guard District No.-12 (Lakshadweep), welcomed the representatives of various organizations of Union Territory (UT) Administration and volunteers participating in Unity Run, and delivered a speech on importance of unity. Dr. Giri Sankar R, IAS, Additional District Magistrate, UT of Lakshadweep was the Chief Guest of the event. The event was also aimed to encourage whole heartedly adopting Rashtriya Ekta (National Integration) initiated by Govt. of India.
About 200 volunteers from Lakshadweep Administration, Indian Navy, CRPF, Govt. Senior Secondary School, Kendriya Vidyalaya, Govt Girl’s High School, College of education and other departments of UTL has actively participated in Unity Run. The event was successfully conducted at Coast Guard Head Quarters CGDHQ-12, with the active support of Uniformed Personnel, schools and other civil agencies.
Various activities were conducted as part of the unity run such as, displaying banners at various places at Kavaratti Island covering various awareness messages on Rashtriya Ekta. Unity run was conducted from Coast Guard Head Quarters – CGDHQ-12 main gate to Y- junction and back (distance of approx 5 Kms) and was conducted in co-ordination with other departments.
