New Delhi: The Sea Phase of MILAN 2024, a multinational naval exercise, concluded on Tuesday with a grand ceremony, showcasing the collaborative efforts of over 50 participating countries. This edition of MILAN witnessed the active engagement of 35 units, comprising ships, submarines, and aircraft, with an additional 13 ships and one aircraft from friendly foreign nations joining in the maritime manoeuvres.
The Indian Navy played a pivotal role in MILAN 2024, showcasing its prowess with the participation of both aircraft carriers, INS Vikramaditya and the indigenous INS Vikrant. The exercises conducted during the Sea Phase encompassed a wide array of activities, including surface firings, complex anti-air shoots, advanced anti-submarine warfare drills with Indian Navy submarines, air defence manoeuvres against fighter aircraft, extensive operations of ship-borne helicopters, and seamanship evolutions such as fueling from Indian Navy tankers.
Participants in the Sea Phase engaged in advanced exercises covering all dimensions of maritime warfare, including weapon firings against surface and high-speed aerial targets, anti-submarine warfare tactics, cross-deck landings, carrier operations, and replenishment at sea.
The culmination of MILAN 2024 Sea Phase underscores the collective commitment of participating nations towards fostering peace, stability, and interoperability in the maritime domain, serving as a testament to the shared aspirations for regional security and cooperation.
