Kolkata: The movie ‘Bengal 1947’, depicting the plight of partition, is all set to be released on 29th March. Directed by Akashaditya Lama and Produced by Satish Pande, Rishabh Pande and Akashaditya, the movie revolves around the impact the partition of the nation had on Bengal.

It must be noted that in the psyche of the general public, the hardships, death, and destruction of partition of the nation was mostly concentrated on the western borders. Maybe it is because of the numerous books written about it and the many movies made which depicts the cruelty of the partition centered on our western borders.

However, ‘Bengal 1947’ tries to throw light on the impact the partition had on our eastern border in the erstwhile Bengal. The movie is based on a play ‘Shabri Ka Mohan’ written by Akashaditya Lama.

The movie was selected for the Bengal International Film Festival in Kolkata and was screened at the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute of India on February 18. The movie was praised and appreciated at the film festival.

‘Bengal 1947’ features Aditya Lakhia, Omkar Das, Manikpuri, Sohela Kapoor, and Devoleena Bhattacharjee. The film is produced under the banner of Comfed Productions. The movie will be released across the nation on March 29 by Platoon Distribution.
