Thiruvananthapuram: During an interview, author Benyamin highlighted the importance of exploring Sainu’s experiences, particularly during Najeeb’s isolation in the desert during her pregnancy time. He said that anyone who has read the novel ‘Aadujeevitham’ will be thinking that what Sainu, Najeeb’s wife, might have been thinking when Najeeb was isolated in the desert.
Benyamin emphasized the parallels between Najeeb’s solitude in the desert and the loneliness experienced by Sainu. Benyamin said that he always thinks of the female version of the novel ‘Aadujeevitham’. Sainu lived alone at home as much as Najeeb felt isolated and lonely in the desert. That is what many wives of expatriates are experiencing. Najeeb’s life has been experienced only by the few who have gone to the Gulf. But Sainu’s life is experienced by the wives of all Keralites who went to the Gulf.
Benyamin highlighted the challenges Sainu faced, particularly not knowing Najeeb’s whereabouts and coping with pregnancy while feeling lonely. He noted that only a very small percentage of people live there as families. Benyamin mentioned that Sainu believes Najeeb will return someday, but in Najeeb’s case, he doesn’t even know his location. Consequently, exploring Sainu’s perspective is essential. He encouraged female writers to give it a try.
