Veteran actor Sarath Babu, who predominantly worked in Tamil and Telugu films, passed away in Hyderabad at the age of 71. The actor was admitted to AIG Hospital and had been undergoing treatment for some time.
As per reports, the actor died due to sepsis in his whole body and multiple organ failures. Several celebrities, politicians, and fans have expressed their condolences through social media.
Sarath Babu was born on July 31, 1951, in the town of Amadalavalasa, Andhra Pradesh. The actor was a well-known face in Tamil and Telugu cinema, working on over 200 films in various regional languages.
The actor made his debut in 1973 with the Telugu film Rama Rajyam but garnered public attention with his 1978 Tamil film, Nizhal Nijamagiradhu, with Kamal Haasan in the lead role and directed by K Balachander. He had also acted in Malayalam films like Sarapancharam, Dhanya, Daisy, Sabarimalayil Thanka Sooryodayam, Kanyakumariyil Oru Kavitha, Poonilamazha, and Prashna Parihaara Shaala.
The actor’s last on-screen appearance was in the Telugu film Malli Pelli in 2023. He is also a recipient of eight Nandi Awards.
