Renowned actor and politician Suresh Gopi’s daughter, Bhagya Suresh, was subjected to body-shaming comments after she shared pictures of her graduation ceremony from British Columbia University on social media. It was under the photo of Bhagya wearing a saree the bad comment appeared, but she expertly reacted to the comment that suggested her to wear western outfits instead of a saree because that doesn’t suit her body.
Following this, Bhagya gave a fitting reply to the body-shaming comment, which read, “Thank you for your valuable opinion that nobody asked for. My horizontality and perpendicularity are none of your concern. I will continue to wear whatever I deem appropriate. If I want to wear my traditional Kerala saree to honour my roots for my graduation ceremony in a foreign country where all Indian students are forced to blend in with the western folk, then that’s exactly what I will wear. Why don’t you make an effort to mind your own business and not comment on other people’s bodies and outfits, concerned citizen?”. Many people have come forward in support of Bhagya on social media after the incident.
