As the highly publicised Depp-Heard divorce draws to a conclusion, Hollywood actress Amber Heard has agreed to settle a $1 million defamation complaint launched against her by her ex-husband, renowned Hollywood actor Johnny Depp.
Amber Heard was found guilty of the accusations filed against her by Johnny Depp in a prior judgement last year, resulting in a $13 million payout. However, the former couple later opted to settle out of court, with Depp gladly accepting a $1 million settlement.
Johnny Depp has already made plans on how to allocate the settlement funds, choosing to donate them to five different charitable organisations. Each charity will receive a portion of $200,000. The selected non-profit organisations include Make-A-Film Foundation, The Painted Turtle, Red Feather, Tetiaroa Society, and Amazonia Fund Alliance.
The Make-A-Film Foundation is akin to the well-known Make-A-Wish Foundation, focusing on creating short films with children diagnosed with life-threatening illnesses and granting them the opportunity to collaborate with their favourite movie actors. The Painted Turtle, founded by the late actor Paul Newman, provides camping experiences for children, offering respite from their illnesses.
Johnny Depp recently attended the Cannes International Film Festival for the screening of his film ‘Jeanne du Barry’, while Amber Heard has relocated to Spain following the trial. She and her daughter are set to attend Italy’s 69th Taormina Film Festival on June 24 for the world premiere of her movie ‘In the Fire.’
