Chennai: Leo, the highly anticipated film starring Thalapathy Vijay, has been generating significant buzz ahead of its release in October. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, the movie has already unveiled its first single, “Naa Ready,” on Vijay’s birthday, which quickly became a chart-topper. However, the song has also sparked controversy, landing the team in trouble.

An activist named ‘RTI’ Selvam has filed a complaint against the film’s team, accusing them of glorifying drug smuggling and promoting rowdyism through the “Naa Ready” song. The petitioner has demanded action be taken against Vijay under the Narcotics Control Act, claiming that the song advocates drug addiction.

RTI Selvam argues that the widely shared song featuring Vijay encourages drug addiction among youth and promotes unruly behaviour. The activist highlights Vijay’s dance moves with a cigarette in hand as evidence. It’s important to note that the Chennai police have been actively organising events to combat drug usage in the city, with actors Karthi and Vijay Antony participating in these initiatives.

The online complaint was filed on June 25, and the petition was submitted on June 26 at around 10 am, urging the court to take action against the team under the Narcotic Control Act.

“Leo” is an action thriller gangster film written by Lokesh Kanagaraj himself. Alongside Thalapathy Vijay, the film features Sanjay Dutt and Trisha in leading roles. Gautham Vasudev Menon, Arjun, Mysskin, Mansoor Ali Khan, and Priya Anand form the supporting cast. The movie, produced by Lalit Kumar and Jagadish Palanisamy, boasts music composed by Anirudh Ravichander. The action-packed thriller is set to hit theatres on October 19, coinciding with the Ayudha Pooja weekend.
