Born Rajiv Hari Om Bhatia in Amritsar, Punjab, in 1967, Akshay Kumar embarked on his Bollywood journey with the 1991 film “Saugandh.” Over the years, he has graced the silver screen as the lead in over a hundred Indian films, captivating audiences with his versatile performances. In recognition of his contribution to the cinematic realm and society at large, he was bestowed with the esteemed Padma Shri award in 2009.
A notable juncture in his life came in 2011, when Akshay Kumar acquired Canadian citizenship at the age of 44. At the time, he was residing in Canada alongside his family, a decision aligned with his aspirations. His choice was facilitated by the Conservative government in Canada, which, in an effort to bolster cultural and cinematic ties with India, offered him Canadian citizenship. Regrettably, this shift also led to the relinquishment of his Indian citizenship, which marked a 12 year waiting time for the actor to regain his original citizenship.
