Mohanlal, the Malayalam superstar, has consistently captured audiences’ attention even in brief guest appearances, often overshadowing the lead roles of the films he graces. His ability to surprise and mesmerise viewers with fleeting cameo roles has been evident time and again, as demonstrated most recently in Rajinikanth’s “Jailer.”
Emerging reports now reveal that Mohanlal initially had a role in Nivin Pauly’s blockbuster “Premam”. Krishna Shankar, a co-star in the film, is the one shedding light on this revelation. “Premam,” an iconic Malayalam movie, is celebrated for its captivating characters and their profound impact on the storyline.
Krishna Shankar delves into this intriguing aspect during an interview, unveiling, “While crafting the screenplay for ‘Premam,’ a small character for Lal sir was originally scripted—a portrayal of a priest. However, the intricacies of weaving the narrative around the three love stories took precedence. This particular role was eventually phased out. Interestingly, during a fight scene in ‘Premam,’ action sequences from the film ‘Spadikam’ were employed as a reference, emphasising a ‘no-holds-barred’ approach to confronting challenges.”
