Thiruvananthapuram: Anticipation is reaching a crescendo as “Kannur Squad,” the much-awaited crime drama film, is poised to hit the theatres tomorrow. The film is directed by Roby Varghese Raj in his directorial debut and scripted by Muhammed Shafi and Rony David.
The film stars the legendary Megastar Mammootty in the lead role. Alongside him, the ensemble cast includes Vijayaraghavan, Rony David, Kishore, Shabareesh Varma, and Azees Nedumangad, ensuring a powerhouse of talent on the screen.
“Kannur Squad” ventures into the crime drama genre with a plot intricately crafted by Muhammed Shafi and Rony David. The film marks the fourth production of Mammootty’s production banner, Mammootty Kampany, following the success of “Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam.”
The musical score for the film is composed by the acclaimed Sushin Shyam, known for his work on “Romancham” and “Bheeshma Parvam,” among others. His ability to create evocative music is expected to add an extra layer of intensity to the cinematic experience.

The production of “Kannur Squad” commenced on December 27, 2022, and took the crew to various locations, including Kannur, Kasaragod, Wayanad, Ernakulam, Thiruvananthapuram, Pala, Pune, Mumbai, Uttar Pradesh, Belgaum, Mangalore, and Coimbatore. The extensive shooting schedule wrapped up on April 6, 2023, after a 91-days shoot.
The film’s promotional journey began with the release of a compelling first-look poster on February 26, 2023, featuring Mammootty in a captivating avatar.

As a birthday treat for Mammootty, the makers unveiled the official trailer of ‘Kannur Squad’ , offering a glimpse into the intense and dramatic narrative .
The film has already secured a U/A certificate from the Censor Board, setting the stage for a wide audience demographic. “Kannur Squad” is scheduled to hit theatres on September 28, 2023, with Wayfarer Films handling distribution in Kerala and Truth Global Films managing overseas distribution.
