Mumbai: Walt Disney is set to merge with Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Industries, with reports suggesting that the official agreement will be signed next week. Under the terms of the merger, Reliance will secure a 51% stake in the newly combined entity, while Disney will retain the remaining 49%. According to reports, this collaboration is expected to result in the formation of the largest media company in Bharat.
Although the news of the merger has been circulating since October, neither Reliance nor Disney has issued an official statement at this time. The potential merger aligns with Reliance’s previously expressed goal of attaining the top position in the Indian media sector.
Notably, Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Industries has been making strategic moves in the media landscape, by acquiring the distribution rights of the Indian Premier League season 16 for a substantial $2.7 billion. In addition to this, Reliance has secured the rights to broadcast Warner Bros and HBO shows in Bharat, expanding its footprint in the entertainment industry.
