Chennai: In a recent interview conducted as part of the promotion for her film, “Annapurani,” actress Nayanthara expressed her discomfort with the title “Lady Superstar” and openly stated that she does not want to be referred to by that tag.
Nayanthara conveyed, “Please don’t call me that. When someone talks about me as a lady superstar, it often feels like an insult. I don’t know if I have reached the status of a lady superstar. Maybe because of this thought, I think I shouldn’t have such a tag.”
She continued, “If ten people call me a Lady Superstar, I feel like fifty people are insulting me. My film journey and my choices of subjects and scripts are not based on that tag. That tag is the love everyone gave me!”
Her latest film, “Annapoorani: The Goddess of Food”, is a Tamil-language drama film released in 2023, marking Nilesh Krishnaa’s directorial debut. The movie is a collaborative production by Jatin Sethi and R. Ravindran, under the banners of Zed Studios, Naad Studios, and Trident Arts. Starring Nayanthara in the titular role, the film also features Jai and Sathyaraj in prominent roles.
