Chennai: Actor Vijay Sethupathi, celebrated for his versatile roles in various South Indian language films, including Malayalam, has now ventured into Bollywood with his latest film, “Merry Christmas,” alongside the talented Katrina Kaif. In a recent interview conducted as part of the film’s promotion, Sethupathi shared insights into his life before entering the world of cinema.
When the anchor asked about his pre-film industry endeavours, Sethupathi revealed a diverse background. He shared, “A lot of work was done before entering the film industry. Initially, I was in pursuit of a job as an event decorator. Despite my attempts to break into the film industry during that time, success eluded me. Subsequently, I fell in love with a girl and got married to her. The arrival of my son increased my responsibilities, prompting me to seek employment as an accountant.”
He continued, “I worked as an accountant in Chennai and Dubai. When I came back home, I kept trying to get a chance to act in Tamil movies.”
Sethupathi mentioned that he initially entered the cinema world as a junior artist, marking the beginnings of a career that would eventually propel him to stardom.
“Merry Christmas” holds a special place in Sethupathi’s career as it marks his debut in Bollywood. The film, directed by Sriram Raghavan, unveiled its trailer recently, generating buzz among fans. Scheduled for release on January 12, “Merry Christmas” will hit theatres in both Hindi and Tamil.
