Thiruvananthapuram: Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer” emerged as the standout film at the Golden Globes Awards, securing five prestigious awards, including Best Director, Actor, and Supporting Actor. The film dominated the drama category, winning five out of seven nominations and claiming the top spot at the box office.
Despite having nine nominations, “Barbie,” the box office champion, could only clinch one award , acknowledging its popularity among audiences.
“Cillian Murphy delivered an extraordinary portrayal,” tackling the challenging role of Dr. J. Robert Oppenheimer in this true events-based film. The impeccable performance earned Murphy the Best Actor award. Additionally, Ludwig Göransson’s outstanding composition for “Oppenheimer” secured the film the Best Original Score accolade.
Robert Downey Jr. was honoured with the Supporting Actor award for his compelling performance as Louis Strauss in Oppenheimer. Lily Gladstone, acclaimed for her role in Martin Scorsese’s “Killers of the Flower Moon,” received her first-ever award for Best Actress. Meanwhile, Emma Stone took home the Best Actress in a Musical Comedy award.
