Thiruvananthapuram: The highly-anticipated Ranbir Kapoor starrer ‘Animal,’ directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, has finalised its OTT release date. The film, having garnered nearly Rs 600 crore at the box office, is scheduled to be available on Netflix from January 26 onwards, with an extended runtime of eight minutes.
Initially hitting theatres on December 1 with a runtime of three hours and 21 minutes, ‘Animal’ will now stream on Netflix for three hours and 29 minutes. Reports suggest that the OTT version will feature an additional crucial scene involving Rashmika Mandanna.
The movie revolves around the complexities of a father and son’s troubled relationship, featuring a stellar cast including Ranbir Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Bobby Deol, Tripti Dimri, and Anil Kapoor. Despite its significant success in theatres, ‘Animal’ faced criticism for scenes that were perceived as glorifying misogyny.
Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga, known for his earlier work ‘Arjun Reddy,’ has seen success in theatres but also faced criticism for promoting toxic masculinity. ‘Animal’ is set to start streaming on Netflix on January 26, offering audiences an opportunity to experience the film’s narrative and performances in an extended version.
