Thiruvananthapuram: The much-anticipated 96th Oscar nominations were revealed at 7 p.m. IST on January 23, and they were announced by actors Zazie Olivia Beetz and Jack Quaid. On the shortlisted list, Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer” took the spotlight, securing an impressive 13 nominations. Following closely behind, “Poor Things” earned 11 nominations, while “Barbie” garnered six nods.
“Barbie” received nods in various categories, including Best Supporting Actor, Costume Design, Best Supporting Actress, Original Song, Production Design, and Best Picture. On the other hand, “Oppenheimer” is nominated in 13 categories, ranging from Best Supporting Actor to Best Picture, showcasing its broad recognition across various aspects.
Beyond these notable films, attention was drawn to the French production film “Anatomy of a Fall.” The acclaimed French thriller has garnered attention at the Cannes Film Festival and has received nominations for five 2024 Academy Awards. The nominations include top honours for Best Picture and Best Director.
“Killers of the Flower Moon” and “The Zone of Interest” also made their names in key nomination categories. The Oscars are scheduled to take place on March 10th in Los Angeles.
