Thiruvananthapuram: The recent release of “Malaikottai Vaaliban,” starring the legendary Mohanlal, has stirred a pot of mixed reviews since its release on January 25. While some viewers have labelled it below average, others have praised the film for its exceptional qualities. In response to this response, director Lijo Jose Pellissery held a press conference in Kochi to address the mixed reviews and to express his confusion over the negative campaign against the film.
While addressing the media, he stated that “a group of people is attacking this film with great hostility. I don’t understand why there is so much hate for this movie. I still don’t understand what an industry benefits because of this. I claim that “Malaikottai Vaaliban” is one of the films with the highest production value in Malayalam cinema. This is a film for which we all worked for one and a half years”. said Lijo Jose Pellissery.
Reflecting on his inspiration for creating the film, Lijo shared, “When I was young, I had the experience of listening to stories narrated by my grandmother. This is a generation that does not have that habit. The film is made to tell a story. I have many such stories lying inside me. So this movie is made for those who want to hear the story. ”
Despite a majority of unfavourable reviews within the first three days of its release, feedback from the press meeting revealed a different perspective. Many netizens expressed support for the director and the film, praising its exceptional qualities and dismissing the negative critiques as unwarranted.
