Thiruvananthapuram: Reports suggest that the Kerala Chalachitra Academy has announced that 10 Malayalam films have been chosen for screening at the prestigious 30th Vesoul International Film Festival of Asian Cinema in France. The event is scheduled to take place from February 6 to 13.
The selected films were picked by the Vesoul Film Festival authorities from the list provided by the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy, of the films showcased in the 26th and 27th editions of the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK). This initiative is part of the academy’s ongoing efforts to showcase and promote Malayalam cinema on the global stage.
The chosen films include ‘Ariyippu’ (Mahesh Narayanan), ‘Aayirathonnu Nunakal’ (Thamar KV), ‘Pada’ (Kamal KM), ‘Vettappattikalum Oattakkarum’ (Rarish G), ‘Aanu’ (Sidhartha Siva), ’19(1)(a)’ (Indhu VS), ‘Nishiddho’ (Tara Ramanujan), ‘Nayattu’ (Martin Prakatt), ‘The Great Indian Kitchen’ (Jeo Baby), and ‘Niraya Thattakalulla Maram’ (Jayaraj R).
This annual film festival, held in Vesoul, eastern France, was started in 1995 by Martine and Jean-Marc Thérouanne, who continue to serve as festival directors.
