Actor Vijay announces political entry, names his party ‘Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam’

Chennai: Popular actor Vijay has officially announced his entry into politics and revealed the name of his political party, ‘Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam.’ The actor made it clear that he will not be participating in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, with the primary focus on the 2026 assembly elections, which were decided in the general body meeting.

In a declaration note, actor Vijay emphasised that his venture into politics is not just another career for him. They will submit an application with the Election Commission to register our party as ‘Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam.’ Their objective is to participate and emerge victorious in the forthcoming 2026 assembly elections, aiming to bring the fundamental political transformation desired by the people. The actor also stated that his party will not collaborate with any other political party. The party’s political journey for the people of Tamil Nadu will begin with a public meeting.

As the Election Commission has given approval, the party intends to organise public gatherings and events. These forums will serve as platforms to communicate their policies, principles, and action plans, along with the unveiling of the party flag and symbol.
