Mumbai: In recent times, Malayalam cinema has emerged as a focal point of admiration and discussion within the Indian cinema. Renowned Bollywood director Anurag Kashyap has now joined the chorus of voices lauding Malayalam cinema. Kashyap expressed his admiration after viewing acclaimed Malayalam films such as ‘Bramayugam’ and ‘Manjummal Boys’, admitting to feelings of jealous towards Malayalam directors.
Kashyap commended the exceptional craftsmanship exhibited in both films, noting the filmmakers’ unwavering confidence in their storytelling approach. The story is told in a seemingly impossible manner. He said that it’s hard to believe how the director presented the story to the producer and obtained consent. Kashyap cited the lack of similar creative freedom in Bollywood, where the producers often leans towards remakes rather than original storytelling.
Furthermore, Anurag Kashyap said that he feel jealous of Malayalam directors. He added that their courage and bravery should be admired. Filmmaking in Malayalam is aided by a sizable audience that comprehends things well. He is very envious of all of them. Kashyap also commented on Mammootty’s contributions during the illusion era and also praised his performance in film ‘Bramayugam’.
