Thiruvananthapuram: URI -The Surgical Strike, the thriller that retells the story of India’s covert operation against Pakistan in September 2016, has only been released in very few theatres in Kerala.
Moviegoers in the country have already given their upvote to the Vicky Kaushal starrer, propelling it to the highest grosser at the box office during the opening weekend. Kerala has a sizeable Hindi audience, with migrant laborers from other states making the market even more attractive for Bollywood. This places a huge question mark over the movie’s limited release in the state.
Earlier, another movie, Parmanu, which showcased the story of the Pokhran blasts had received a similar treatment. It is alleged that movies with nationalist undertones are being given the cold shoulder by a shrewd lobby that operates in the industry.
