Producer Amy Pascal confirmed during the release of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-verse that the fourth instalment in Marvel and Sony’s Spider-Man franchise is under development and actors Tom Holland and Zendaya will be returning to their respective roles.
Although further details of the film cannot be confirmed, the production is currently on hold due to the strike by Writers Guild of America.
As per media reports, Amy Pascal said that, “We’re in the process, but the writers’ strike, nobody is working during the strike. We’re all being supporters and whenever they get themselves together, we’ll get started.”
The writers’ strike, which began on May 2, 2023, has indefinitely halted the production of various television shows and movies.
The previous instalment in the Spider-Man franchise was a huge success and a surprise-filled experience for fans of the character. The 2021 film Spider-Man: No Way Home marked the return of some of the same characters from other Spider-Man universes and ended on a high note, where the movie stood out from its predecessors.
