Reports said that popular late night shows in America have shut down as a result of the ongoing writers’ strike. Talk shows which were hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, Trevor Noah, Seth Meyers and Jimmy Fallon have shut down in solidarity to the writers. They came out in support of the writers and said that their daily needs for content is fulfilled by these writers and their demands should be met.
India’s Screenwriters Association (SWA) also expressed their support to the writers and has asked all writers affiliated to the SWA to stop working for US productions and not to accept new work from them.
Various productions have shut down or delayed due to the strike. Even the leading popular Netflix show Stranger Things delayed its production along with Disney+ show Daredevil: Born Again.
The Writers Guild of America (WGA) started the strike on May 2nd as a result of a clash between the writers and production companies. The writers found themselves working for less pay in a highly competitive streaming world service.
