Director Laxman Utekar had earlier announced this year that he would be teaming up with Vicky Kaushal once again, following their romantic comedy film “Zara Hatke Zara Bachke.” Their next project together is set to be a period film centred on the historical figure Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, who was the son of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and the second ruler of the Maratha Empire.
As per reports, director Utekar gave much more information regarding the film as part of an interview. He has said that the film is expected to start production in the month of September, and Vicky Kaushal is currently undergoing preparations for the role. The actor is anticipated to undergo weight-gain training, aiming to surpass 100kg. Additionally, he is currently engaged in horseback riding and sword fighting training.
During the interview, the director also shared that Vicky was the only person in the group of young actors who had the same physicality and personality as Sambhaji Maharaj. The rest of the cast and crew will be informed closer to the start of the film’s production.
Meanwhile, Kaushal’s next film, Zara Hatke Zara Bachke, directed by Utekar himself, was released in theatres today. Vicky Kaushal is also expected to play the lead roles in Meghna Gulzar’s Sam Bahadur opposite Sanya Malhotra and Fatima Sana Shaikh and the Anand Tiwari-directed Mere Mehboob Mere Sanam with Triptii Dimri.
