Kochi: Reports suggest that Dulquer Salmaan’s highly anticipated film, “King of Kotha,” is currently undergoing reshoots in Kochi. Both DQ and the film’s team expressed dissatisfaction with the original climax, which was shot in the month of May.
To ensure a more satisfying conclusion, the filmmakers have enlisted cinematographers Arvind Kashyap and Mahesh Mathew to shoot the new climax. Mahesh Mathew, who previously worked on the action scenes of the Tamil-Telugu film “Custody,” brings his expertise to enhance the intensity and power of the new climax.
Initially, the climax was filmed by cinematographer Nimish Ravi, but the filmmakers felt it didn’t meet their expectations. With the reshoot, the budget for the movie, reportedly set at Rs 45 crore, is expected to increase by at least Rs 5 crore.
“King of Kotha” also features Aishwarya Lekshmi, Prasanna, Gokul Suresh, Chemban Vinod Jose, Shammi Thilakan, and others. The film is produced under Dulquer Salmaan’s banner, Wayfarer Films, in association with Zee Studios, with the music being composed by Shaan Rahman and Jakes Bejoy.
Directed by Abhilash Joshiy, the film is scheduled for a theatrical release during the festive season of Onam this year. It was originally planned as a pan-Indian film set in the 80s and 90s with a gangster theme.
