Mumbai: Actress Vidya Balan is set to captivate audiences with her upcoming whodunit murder mystery titled “Neeyat”. Directed by Anu Menon, the film features a cast that includes Ram Kapoor, Rahul Bose, Neeraj Kabi, Shahana Goswami, Amrita Puri, Dipannita Sharma, Niki Walia, Shashank Arora, Prajakta Koli, and Danesh Razvi.

In ‘Neeyat,’ Vidya Balan portrays the role of Mira Rao, a CBI sleuth who delves into the investigation of the sudden death of a billionaire that occurred while he was in the company of his closest friends. The trailer showcases glimpses of luxurious mansions and picturesque landscapes in Scotland, introducing us to Ashish Kapoor (Ram Kapoor) and his group of friends, all of whom become suspects in Mira Rao’s pursuit to uncover the truth behind the alleged murder.

The trailer may evoke memories of films like ‘Knives Out,’ starring Daniel Craig, as the movie also explored the theme of a billionaire’s demise and the subsequent suspicion falling on household members or close friends.

‘Neeyat’ marks Vidya Balan’s return to the silver screen after a four-year hiatus. Her last theatrical release was ‘Mission Mangal’ in 2019, while she gained acclaim for her digital ventures, including ‘Shakuntala Devi,’ ‘Sherni,’ and ‘Jalsa.’ The film is scheduled to hit theatres on July 7, followed by a release on Prime Video.

Vidya Balan previously collaborated with director Anu Menon in the 2020 film ‘Shakuntala Devi,’ where she portrayed the role of the renowned mathematician Shakuntala Devi.
