According to a report, the Kerala government is preparing to introduce a mobile app named ‘Ente Show’ and a website, offering movie lovers a convenient platform to book movie tickets. This app will soon enable ticket purchases for 16 theatres operated by the Kerala State Film Development Corporation (KSFDC). The government’s intention is to make all theatres across the state accessible for ticket booking through the app ‘Ente Show’ by January.
Users of the app ‘Ente Show’, will only be charged an additional fee of Rs 1.5 per ticket. However, the key advantage lies in its ability to provide the government, film producers, and theatre owners with precise data on ticket sales.
In contrast, private booking apps currently impose additional charges of up to Rs 25 per ticket in the name of convenience fees on customers. The introduction of a government-owned app not only ensures steady revenue for film welfare funds and entertainment taxes but also helps collect the Rs 3 cess for the welfare fund, which is often neglected by theaters.
