Paris: In a surprising turn of events, French football sensation Kylian Mbappe has been left out of the Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) squad for their upcoming pre-season tour to Japan and South Korea. The decision comes amidst ongoing reports that the club is open to selling the talented forward, with speculation of a potential move to Spanish giants Real Madrid on a free transfer next summer.
The announcement was made by PSG on Twitter, indicating that only players fully committed to the club would be part of the pre-season tour. This move by the club reflects their belief that no player is bigger than the institution itself.
According to Sky Sports, PSG has put Kylian Mbappe up for sale, as they feel convinced that the football prodigy has already agreed to join Real Madrid on a free transfer next year. This perceived decision by Mbappe is being seen as a massive betrayal by the club, considering his previous statements about not leaving PSG for free.
Despite seeking clarity from Mbappe upon the resumption of training this month, PSG has received no communication from the player, which further adds to their belief that he intends to leave the club. In response, PSG has decided to begin their pre-season tour in the Far East without him, signalling a new chapter in the club’s journey.
Kylian Mbappe, who joined PSG in 2017, has been an instrumental figure for the team throughout his tenure. He has made over 170 appearances in Ligue 1, the top-flight French club football league, and has mesmerised fans with 148 goals in the tournament. Mbappe’s contributions have been pivotal in PSG securing five Ligue 1 titles, with the most recent triumph achieved in the 2022–23 season. He also holds the distinction of being PSG’s all-time leading goal scorer.
