Kanpur: IIT Kanpur has pioneered an innovative app that identifies stress through voice analysis. Developed by the IIT startup ‘Manodayam Mental Health and Wellness’, the app aims to raise awareness about mental stress and provide effective solutions for relief.

The app employs a unique method: users will have to answer questions, and their responses are analyzed based on voice modulation, tone, word spacing, and speech speed. Within just 30 seconds, the app delivers a comprehensive stress assessment. Scores ranging from 1 to 5 indicate normal mental state, while 6 to 9 suggest mild stress. Scores between 10 and 19 signal a progression towards stress, and 20 to 27 indicate severe stress levels.

Sanjay Dhar, CEO of the startup, announced that the app will be available on the market within a month, offering users a convenient tool for monitoring their mental well-being. With the alarming rise in stress-related deaths in recent years, efforts are underway to mitigate such incidents through technological interventions.

“By simply downloading the app on your mobile device, you can effortlessly track your mental state and receive personalized suggestions for stress management,” clarified Sanjay, highlighting the user-friendly nature of the technology.
