Cumbum: A man who was injured by the tusker Arikomban’s attack in residential area of Cumbum died at the hospital. He has been identified as Palraj (57) a native of Cumbum, Tamil Nadu. Palraj’s bike was hit by Arikomban when the tusker stumbled through the street. Hospital officials informed that the cause of death was severe head injury.
Palraj died today morning while undergoing treatment in the Intensive Care Unit of Theni Medical College Hospital. His head and internal organs were injured badly, bones were broken and there was internal bleeding, doctors said. The body will be handed over to relatives after the post-mortem.
Though the Tamil Nadu Forest Department has initiated a mission to tranquilize the tusker and shift it to Meghamalai Tiger Reserve, the task force failed to execute the operation as the elephant returned to the deep forest.
