On the occasion of World Environment Day, K Surendran, Kerala BJP State President, planted saplings in various parts of Thrissur district. The event was conducted at the Sakthan bus stand area and Vadakumnath temple grounds. BJP State Vice President B Gopalakrishnan, State Secretary K Nagesh, District President KK Anish Kumar, other BJP representatives, councillors etc participated.
In the event, Surendran said that celebrating such environmental awareness programmes with wide public participation would help to spread awareness and mobilise ordinary citizens towards environmental action. He also added that by planting at least one tree per person, biodiversity can be conserved. He also calls for minimising single-use plastic in our daily lives, as this year’s theme for Environment Day is “beat plastic pollution”, which can be achieved only through individuals’ conscious activities.
